Olga Gurova (PhD, Cultural Studies) leads the project. She holds the position of Assistant Professor at the Department of Culture and Global Studies, Aalborg University, Denmark. She previously served as the Academy of Finland Research Fellow at the Department of Social Research, University of Helsinki (Finland) and as a researcher at the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies (Finland). She also worked at universities in Russia, USA, Hungary and Italy. Her research interests include cultural studies, sociology of consumption and everyday life, fashion studies, social-network analysis, qualitative methods of social research and innovative methods of teaching. She is the author of Fashion and the Consumer Revolution in Contemporary Russia (London, New York: Routledge, 2015) and Soviet Underwear: Between Ideology and Everyday Life (Moscow: New Literary Observer, 2008). Daria Morozova, PhD Fellow

Daria Morozova (PhD candidate in consumer culture and wearable technologies in Aalborg University) does her thesis within the framework of the project. She holds Master’s degree in Social Policy and Urban Studies from the University of Helsinki, Finland. Daria’s PhD focuses on the issues of fashion and sustainability, in particular, on possible linkages between consumer culture, sustainability and usage of smart clothes. She has also worked as a researcher in the projects on micro fashion enterprises and co-authored articles with Gurova on sustainable fashion designers in the Kallio neighbourhood of Helsinki (Gurova, Morozova 2016) and on precarity and creative labour of Russian fashion designers (Gurova, Morozova 2018). Together with Gurova and Javits she worked on the research-based film “Take it slow!” and co-authored a methodological article on how to do a research-based film (Morozova, Gurova 2017). Jenna Vaajakari, Research Assistant

Jenna Vaajakari worked on an article on sustainable solutions for wearable technologies together with Olga Gurova, Lefteris Papachristos and Tim Merritt. She holds MA degree in Culture, Communication and Globalization from the Aalborg University in Denmark. Her master thesis research was devoted to the qualitative analysis of peer-to-peer car sharing practices in Aalborg. Her interests include sustainability,  transportation, and technology. She’s currently working as digital marketing assistant at Eico A/S in Aalborg and keeps in touch with the project.

Chrissy Patton, Research Assistant

Department of Culture and Learning, Aalborg University

Chrissy is working on a conference paper/research article on the future of clothing with Olga Gurova. Chrissy holds an MA degree in Culture, Communication and Globalization from the Aalborg University in Denmark. Her master thesis research explored what employees’ perceptions of a company’s approach to sustainability are and how they came to be that way, by taking a dynamic constructivist approach to culture. Chrissy’s interests include culture, sustainability and organizational research.
